Musicians including Jessie J and Tinie Tempah are performing at a free concert at the Tate Modern in London as part of a campaign to end world poverty.

The Agit8 project aims to put pressure on the G8 leaders to take action ahead of their summit in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland next week.

As part of the free event over two days, artists such as Paloma Faith, Biffy Clyro and Jake Bugg have been covering famous protest songs made famous by the likes of Bob Dylan.

A 30-minute documentary from Notting Hill writer Richard Curtis on music that inspires social change is being projected onto the front of the museum as the end of the day’s performances.

The Agit8 campaign has been launched by the ONE charity, co-founded by U2 front man Bono.

The singer said “Since the 1970s Nelson Mandela has called upon artists and bands to use their platform to fight injustice”.  “We were honored then, we’re honored now.”

As well as pop stars from the UK, the gigs also feature a host of African artists including Baaba Maal and Grammy award-winning singer Angelique Kidjo.
