The Benjamin William Mkapa HIV/AIDS Foundation (BMAF) launched the second strategic plan for quality health service guided by core value including excellence, innovation, integrity, respect and team spirit which will last from 2013 to 2018.
This has been said by The Former President of Tanzania and the Settler of The Foundation Benjamin Mkapa recently in Dar es Salaam.
This next five-year strategic plan that will be building upon the experiences and lessons learnt from the implementation of various interventions the Foundation has carried since its inception.
“The plan will strategically emphasize mainly on five key result areas geared on reinforced response to HIV/AIDS and related health conditions, Evidence Based Solutions on Human Resources for Health” said Mkapa.
He added the plan will robust management of Information, Education and Communication (IEC), Build a Sustainable Business Model Effective Operational Systems and Technical Leadership Capacity.
Mkapa said that during this period, BMAF will continue to effectively coordinate with the implementing agencies that is government agencies, Non Governmental Organisations (NGO’s), Corporates and Private institutions, Faith Based Organisations (FBOs) and Community Based Organisations (CBO’s).
Mkapa instead that in health services provision the success is build by the spirit of team work from workers, government and financial supporters.
The Foundation’s operational approach to realizing its vision aims to complement the ongoing efforts of the Government of Tanzania to strengthen its national healthcare system through initiatives aimed at increasing equitable access to quality health services, with a particular focus to serve rural hard-to-reach areas of the country.
On side Chairperson of Board of Trustees of BMAF Major General (Rtd) Herman Lupogo side that the strategic plan lays out what to accomplish over the next five years so as to contribute towards the improvement of the health of the most vulnerable women, men, youth and children of Tanzania.
The Benjamin William Mkapa HIV/AIDS Foundation (BMAF) was established in 2006 after the establishment of its first core programme- the Mkapa Fellows Programme.
The Mkapa Fellows Program was established in 2005 as a joint effort from the Third President of Tanzania, His Excellency Benjamin William Mkapa, and the 41st President of the United States of America, William Jefferson Clinton. This Fellows program was the beginning of several high-profiled, innovative initiatives led by BMAF to address critical public health issues in the country.
